Spirit of Nature Thumbhole Address Book

Spirit of Nature Thumbhole Address Book Review

See more picture

I have been looking for a new address book for years, as my old one continued to deteriorate. This is compact, beautiful, extremely simple and elegant, and efficient with room for many entries and no pages of extras that add weight. I like that it can be secured shut with the elastic band. This authentic range of stationery takes inspiration from sumi-e, the ancient art of Japanse brush painting. Takamasa Ono perfectly captures the traditional subject matter of sumi-e, the environment, and his evocative pictures represent the essence of the natural world, with all its beauty and tranquility.

History Is the Home Address

History Is the Home Address Review

See more picture

Told in the form of a single epic poem, this dialogue between two lovers investigates the impact of some of the most tragic events in African history on modern African consciousness. Colonialization, slavery, oppression, apartheid, racism, and the AIDS epidemic are all addressed by the poem's intertwining voices that draw fascinating conclusions. Making powerful statements both politically and personally, this is an important contribution to African poetry, conveyed in a remarkably unconventional manner.

Canoeist's Q & A: Questions and Answers How-To Books Can't Address (Canoeing how-to)

Canoeist's Q & A: Questions and Answers How-To Books Can't Address (Canoeing how-to) Review

See more picture

I am in my second childhood when it comes to canoes. Did not care about them until a few years back with I traded my desire for speed and action for serenity. For me canoeing helps me find serenity. This was a good book for the novice canoeist. I enjoyed it and plan to save it for future refernece.
Also if you are interested in any outdoor activites. Cliff Jacobson is a wonderful outdoorsman. He loves the outdoors and enjoys teaching others.
A unique approach to teaching canoeing skills, this book describes 25 actual incidents that occurred on canoe trips--from life-threatening health emergencies to inclement weather, poor canoeing practices to ethical dilemmas. Each scenario poses a problem that the reader is invited to solve. The solutions aren't obvious, and each incident will help the reader analyze and deal with real-life problems encountered on canoe trips.

A Literary Address Book (Stay in Touch)

A Literary Address Book (Stay in Touch) Review

I bought this for my mom since she hadn't updated her address book for probably 30 years. Her eyes are not the best and this book is nice and big. It's small enough that it can fit into a purse but big enough to be quickly found. It's hard cover with a nice covering over the binding. Easy to open and close, nice sturdy pages to write on. My sisters and I all wrote out addresses in the book along with our kids' names and birthdates in for our mom to make it special in our own handwriting and there was plenty of room. The only thing I don't like about address books is that there aren't extra pages in the back for things such as anniversaries or birthdays. It would be so nice to have everything in one handy book! From Jane Austen to Voltaire, Anne Lamott to Dorothy Parker, A Literary Address Book celebrates some of the world s most beloved authors and their thoughts on friendship, correspondence, and writing. The definitive address book for anyone with a love for great writers.

The spaces for addresses are a little too small. Also the pages are a little slick so my ballpoint pen doesn't write as nicely as I would like so I am using a fine point marker. But overall, it is the nicest looking address book that I have ever had. This elegant collection from world-renowned interior designer Nina Campbell is a must-have. Featuring her stylish, colourful designs, each item is perfect as a gift for a friend or to keep for your own stationery needs. The perfect accompaniment to the recently reissued "Nina Campbell's Decorating Notebook" (CICO Books, ISBN: 9781907030185).

Memorial address on the Life and Character of William McKinley Review

Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: empire; how the extinction of a narrowing line of kings may bring in an alien dynasty. But in a well-ordered Republic like ours, the ruler may fall, but the state feels no tremor. Our beloved and revered leader is gone; but the natural process of our laws provides us a successor, identical in purpose and ideals, nourished by the same teachings, inspired by the same principles, pledged by tender affection as well as by high loyalty to carry to completion the immense task committed to his hands, and to smite with iron severity every manifestation of that hideous crime which his mild predecessor, with his dying breath, forgave. The sayings of celestial wisdom have no date; the words that reach us, over two thousand years, out of the darkest hour of gloom the world has ever known, are true to the life to-day: "They know not what they do." The blow struck at our dear friend and ruler was as deadly chapter{Section 4as blind hate could make it; but the blow struck at anarchy was deadlier still. What a world of insoluble problems such an event excites in the mind! Not merely in its personal, but in its public aspects, it presents a paradox not to be comprehended. Under a system of government so free and so impartial that we recognize its existence only by its benefactions; under a social order so purely democratic that classes can not exist in it, affording opportunities so universal that even conditions are as changing as the winds, where the laborer of to-day is the capitalist of to-morrow; under laws which are the result of ages of evolution, so uniform and so beneficent that the President has just the same rights and privileges as the artisan, we see the same hellish growth of hatred and murder which dogs equally the footsteps of benevolent monarchs and blood-stained despots. The Royal Horticultural Society 2005 (Rhs Address Book) Review

The RHS diary and address book for 2005 are illustrated with Caroline Maria Applebee's beautiful drawings of flowers, both cultivated garden plants and wild flowers found in fields and hedgerows, made between 1808 and 1852. An accomplished artist, but unknown during her lifetime, Applebee belongs to a tradition of nineteenth-century women flower painters who, by documenting their local flora, provide a standard for comparison with the flora of the present, thus helping current studies of local biodiversity. Each week features a full-page colour illustration and the diary includes the dates of all the RHS Flower Shows as well as national and religious holidays and astronomical information.

The Original Internet Address Book

The Original Internet Address Book Review

See more picture

I have used this book for over three years with a great deal of satisfaction. I'm writing the review because friends wanted one and when I came to this site, there was no commentary. The book is of convenient size and shape to easily carry in your briefcase or bag, with an unobtrusive color and design. The pages are adequately bound and won't fall out. Each page is pre-printed for pertinent information for 5 addressess, with 150 or so pages. It is arranged alphabetically for quick recovery of info. The data fields are large enough for you to place whatever information you desire (generally speaking) into it. I now have put hundreds of addresses, websites (with passwords) and general phone numbers into it. Of course, you don't want to lose it. With over 100,00 Internet sites now in existence, and growing fast, how can anyone keep track of them all? As easy to use as a regular address book, this resource includes extra lines for URLs, key words, and comments. Already printed in the resource are over 1000 popular and often visited sites.

This book is Great! - MARY E. ELY - Las Vegas, NV USA
It's too bad this book is now out of print. I use mine daily, and people are constantly asking me where I got it. They want one, too! I keep all my URLs that I use for internet research at work in it, with my User IDs and passwords. It's a very convenient size and shape, too.

Best Computer Accessory I Have! - Judith K. Brown - Lebanon, Missouri
This little book is the handiest address book I've ever seen. Many times I see web pages I want to check out - or come upon one while at the computer but time is limited - I list it in my book and when time permits surf away. Because it has room to list as much or as little information as you want it is very adaptable. I honestly would be lost without it! It has also been a lifesaver because I always put my passwords in it and who can remember all those without help? Whoever came up with the idea for this addressbook is a genius.

As a Van Gogh, the art work is superb. As an address book it is more than adequate for the text. An address book in which each alphabetical divider-page opens with a detail from a Van Gogh painting and is followed overleaf by an image of the complete work and a quotation from one of the artist's letters. The spiral binding enables the book to be laid open at any page.
